Fundamental and technical analysis are two methods of security evaluation. Fundamental analysis takes both external and internal factors of a company into consideration. Technical analysis uses market data.

Knowledge of these methods of analysis will give the advisor an understanding of how macroeconomic and microeconomic factors affect security pricing.
